Roller Race Phantom III Rear Hub.

When a Ph.III rear hub is first driven on to the half axle and also when it is removed for inspection and reassembled, damage frequently is done to the roller race as sliding takes place between rollers and tracks. This will reduce the life of the bearing.

Last September H.P.S. circulated a memo addressed to E suggesting that an adaptor as shown on Drawing Ex.I. 61. should be screwed into every rear hub before assembly in the works or in depots. When the hub is home the adaptor is removed and the hub built up. No action has been taken to give effect to this, although we regard it as most important.

Will Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} please make the necessary drawing of the piece required and will R.H.C. and Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} see that it is used when made. We will show Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} a typical damaged race to prove that it is a serious matter.

Em/APH.
