G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Armstrong, Esq. -2- 26.6.37. a poundage of 120 lbs, and at the end of the mileage the load had dropped to 60 lbs and 70 lbs, due to wear on the shaft from the plungers. The other parts of the dampers were in very good condition. Your arrangement for preventing the pressure operating on the top plunger looks as if it would give the desired effect, but the assembly is not too pleasant. Any-how, we should like to try this arrangement. There is a similar snag with the auto-locking arrangement. That is, the control moves the locking member in the locked position. It may be necessary to make the lever between the shaft and the plunger flexible out of strip spring steel. We are proposing to run two of the dampers on 6.B.IV with our normal damper oil Castrol F.{Mr Friese}, as we should not want to add another type of oil to all Depots. Would you like us to let you have some Castrol F.{Mr Friese} for test purposes. We are still anxious to get more of your dampers running. The next pairs are those for 33-EX, and another pair for the rear of a Bentley. Can you let me have drawings of the various piston links? Yours sincerely, | ||
