(3) old floating brakes on the back axle of an earlier 40/50 can you tell us if these are more consistent? Fit up brakes you have designs for and do such experiments as you can until you obtain more drawings. Proceed with fitting up and find the value of the 'servo'. We hope the Goshawk side lever box will leave here this week. You may be able to rig up and test the EAC.1. 'servo'. You can only experiment with designs and materials in hand as you find profitable. We expect you will not be able to get on very quickly until you receive the modified designs which we hope will meet all the difficulties that have so far shewn themselves. Some of these designs we expect will leave here every few days. We endeavour to shew the present state of the situation as follows:- STATE OF DESIGN AND NECESSARY CHASSIS MODIFICATIONS FOR FOUR WHEEL BRAKES. | ITEM. | Chassis in order of urgency. | | | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | | EAC.111. | EAC.11. | EAC.1. | | Pedals. | Sent to Derby. | Design in hand here. | Sent to Derby. | | Epicyclic proportioning shaft. | Has to be modified to give new ratios. | As EAC.111. | Not yet looked into. | | Front axle with brakes. | Sent to Derby. | Complete except awaiting design of balancing gear. | Like EAC.11. Same state as EAC II | | ||
