-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/KW.13.11.35. Another point in which I am interested is the method of matching up unmachined connecting rods. It seems ludicrous to machine our rods all over when we drill up for the oil feed. I believe they have various methods of coin press finishing their rods in the States, and I know that Pontiacs have quite an elaborate set up for getting the c. of g.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} of their connecting rods in the right place. I should like you to investigate this: I should also like you to get a figure for the average cost of one of the side by side connecting rods and pistons as fitted to the Lincoln or Cadillac, and also the cost of the valve gear; i.e., all the parts the number of which would be increased by going from a 6 to a 12 cylinder.
