WOODHEAD FRONT SPRINGS.

We have carried out tests with these springs :-

(1) For durability on the bump.
(2) For anti-wobbling attributes on the road.

(1) So far the life of these springs on the bump has been very good. The first one ran 26 hrs. and then the top leaf broke. The second one tan for 30 hrs. and then the top and bottom leaves broke.

The second pair have been running 28 hrs. so far without any breakage.

The brinell of these springs is about 350.

It will be observed that the main leaf of these springs is not the first to break as is so often the cause with our present springs.

(2) With regard to the high speed wobbles experienced with these springs. We do not consider that there is much to choose between them and the standard springs. There is obviously more damping in these springs. The effect of this particular type of damping appears to be that while it does not allow the high speed wobble to start so easily, there is a liability of a wobble being somewhat worse once it has started. With the well base rim tyres (6" section) this is not very pronounced. With the 6.75 and 7.3" tyres, however, it is rather more emphasised.

We should therefore say that these springs are
