DI/NS{Norman Scott} c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} --- 666 DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}13/G.5.10.38. SILVER WRAITH. TRANSMISSION, BRAKE RODS, ETC. On account of the longer wheelbase of Silver Wraith compared with Bentley 111, the intermediate propeller shaft is longer than Bentley 111, and so are the brake rods between the servo and intermediate shaft, and the hand brake and intermediate shaft. The extra 9" is obtained by stretching the centre part of the frame cross, leaving the angle of the cross the same as B.111. This means that the intermediate bearing for the propeller shaft will do as on Bentley 111, but it moves backwards 9" minus a small increase in the length of the new gearbox and drops down at the same time an amount represented by 9 x sine of transmission angle (approx. .243), the frame drilling being made to suit. The increase in length of the propeller shaft is insignificant (about .001). We think these pieces could now be instructed without further designs. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
