Sidgreaves - MD} 2/E.24.11.37. in which you put forward the suggestion that the pressed steel type of wheel might be considered for Bentley 111. We will give this matter consideration, but it will entail some design work to enable us to determine the best method of applying this type of wheel to the fully floating axle. This type of wheel has up to the moment only been used in connection with the bolted on form of wheel, and therefore to utilise the existing design of wheel it would mean a rather uneconomical scheme of producing a hub with a big flange to which the disc wheel would be bolted. A lighter and simpler method of doing the job would be to press a hub from the steel shell of the wheel. This, however, would mean special tools. I mention these points to make it clear that the wheel is not directly applicable as it stands, and we will, therefore, have to get some drawings before we can put forward any reasonable scheme for the use of these wheels in connection with Bentley 111. Mr. Day is giving this matter his attention. BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
