Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of the 12th inst. addressed for my attention, I very much regret the delay which has occurred in execution of this order, and I have looked into the matter specially. I would point out that the original delivery was eight weeks from the date of order, which made delivery due towards the end of February, but on February 19th. an alteration was imposed, which involved the making of new outer rollers throughout, and, of course, entirely cancelled the previous promise. The position now, is that of the eight experimental steering rollers to drawings B.10023 and B.10024, two of the former and three of the latter should be cleared this week. Very unfortunately, replace outers are having to be brought through to clear the balance, and these will not be ready under approximately 3/4 weeks. With regard to the additional four which you ordered, these should be despatched during the present week.
