X. 8770 Extract from CJ5/E22.1.25 X.5770. 'V' SERIES. Concerning the 'V' series, which is to be 300 instead of 100, we note that you may be able to deliver these to London at the rate of 8 to 10 from the middle of March, progressing to 20 per week by the middle of June but that this acceleration of output would make it wise to postpone the introduction of the subframe later than the 151st. chassis - in fact, possibly after the completing of the 300th. 'V' chassis This, of course, would be a disappointment as we look upon the introduction of the subframe as an improvement of considerable importance, which should be introduced at the earliest possible moment after its thorough trial. It is a great disappointment to us to know that West WitteringHenry Royce's home town have not been supplying you with designs for the lengthened frame, the lengthened front springs, alteration in dump irons etc. parallel with the designs for gearboxes suitable for front wheel brakes and that Derby have only just tumbled to the fact that, even if we had a perfect gearbox suitable for front wheel brakes, there must be many weeks of delay before Derby could produce a chassis suitable for front wheel brakes.
