LURIE C. [illegible] XP. C. [illegible] C. [illegible] C. FW. C. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}4/H23.7.23. re. CARBURETTER CONTROL. With reference to the instructions contained in the last paragraph of your memo RY/M16.7.23. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will be able to explain to you the present position, it being a feature which has had our attention since the early cars, when this point was considered unsatisfactory. We had not up till now considered the question of taking retrospective action, as at the time it was pointed out that this was the same as on the 10,000 miles Trials Cars, Experimental Cars, and such Cars as were being used by Sales Department, and that we had received no complaints in this direction, other than the one which I had raised. We did not therefore press the point, as we considered at the time there were other points for attention which were of more vital importance, the Experimental and Design Departments being already overloaded with suggestions and improvements etc. from various sources. At this stage it had been pointed out to us that deliveries and getting cars into customers' hands were of the utmost importance. We have no doubt Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will explain that even with the improved taper, we are not satisfied that we have obtained what was required, and which is confirmed in your memo, RY/M16.7.23. He will also explain that we have in the meantime been able temporarily to turn out cars with jets which are certainly better than those to which you refer, but which even yet do not comply with the requirements above specified. As soon as Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} settles correct tapers and job standardised, will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please issue instructions and O/No. for retrospective action. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
