Specification MONIKROM The alterations in design necessary when adopting "MONIKROM" moulded camshafts are very minor, and such modifications as may be necessary can usually be arranged without disturbing the existing layout of the engine. The steel tappets need no modification in design and, if made of a standard case hardening steel, will be perfectly satisfactory. The specification of the material for "MONIKROM" moulded camshafts may be varied to suit any particular design of camshaft, but a typical Physical and Chemical Specification of the material may be considered as follows:โ Total Carbon ... 3.00 to 3.30% Silicon ... 2.00 to 2.40% Sulphur ... .05 to .10% Phosphorus ... .10 to .20% Manganese ... .50 to .80% Nickel ... .15 to .25% Chromium ... .80 to 1.00% Molybdenum ... .15 to .20% Tensile Strength (โ " bars) ... 20/22 tons per sq. in. Modulus of Rupture (do.) ... 32/35 tons per sq. in. Hardness of Shaft, Brinell No. 240/262. Hardness of Cam Nose, File Hard. MORE MILES OF PROFITABLE PERFORMANCE.
