R.R. 493A (50m) (D.B. 175 25-9-24) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. -3- Expl. No. REF: GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/Grn11.4.25. at front ends by stones. Otherwise lagging is O.K. Exhaust silencer brackets O.K. No blow at sliding joints. A better protection should be given to the sliding joint between the two silencers. This joint shews as much as 1/2" movement, and is always covered with dirt. Front sliding joint does not appear to do anything. EXHAUST CUTOUT. This has recently stuck open, but closed itself in a short time. Dismantled and examined - chief cause is the weakening of the pull-off spring. Spindle shewed slight distortion, this also should be better protected, as on one occasion dirt was the cause of the sticking. PEDALS. O.K. To scheme L.O.P. F.72359. These bearings are still O.K. STEERING BOX SUSPENSION. This suspension is still holding good. Slight oil leak from steering column flange where joined to box. This is the same as previously reported on 98-NK. The knock in this box seems to have disappeared. Side steering tube springs O.K. Cross steering tube ball ends O.K. ENGINE FABRIC COUPLING. This coupling has been taken down and examined. In two places it has started to give way. This is shewn by separate sketch. ELECTRICAL FITTINGS. These are all working satisfactorily. RADIATOR SHUTTERS. These are working quite satisfactorily.
