X1056 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KW. 28th July, 1936. A.{Mr Adams} Taub Esq., The Chevrolet Motor Co., Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Dear Mr. Taub, It was good to hear from you again. If you would send me a drawing of your bearing sizes which you want to try out in our tin-aluminium alloy, we will send you one or two samples of material to test. This alloy is of course still in its infancy, and by the time we get your drawings we may be busy putting white metal back in our engines. So far, however, we have four months' output of Bentleys delivered with the original alloy bearings and no word of reproach. Could you let me have an indication as to the Brinell of the shaft against which you propose to run these bearings. We are finding out that different Brinells want different "brews". A hard shaft certainly makes the job easier, but we are running soft shafts. to see if we get into difficulty. Yours sincerely, | ||
