Failures with Dunlop wheels and tyres on experimental cars in France.

Dunlop the troubles we have with their wheels which are running on Experimental cars in France. As already reported, on two wheels, the fixed flange has broken away from the rim - in three other cases the demountable flange has left the wheel and on each occasion the flange has been lost. The car has been travelling at high speeds when this has happened. The drivers have not been able to appreciate that the tyres were deflated before the rim came off. In future we will keep a record of the gap or over-lap at the joint of the demountable flange when it is off the rim. We shall shortly be sending some further tyres [handwritten correction: wheels] to France. Before these leave we suggest that Messrs. Dunlop should satisfy themselves that the wheels are in proper condition. DUNLOP TYRES. We are also not satisfied with the results we are obtaining with the Dunlop tyres which are running on cars in France. We have had one cover burst after 1624 miles - another one burst after 1740 miles. These covers are in France. We should like to know whether Messrs. Dunlop contd :- | ||
