LES RECEIVED January 19th, 1932. Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, Re. Electric Petrol Gauges. Following a telephone message from our Mr.Manwaring, we understand that you now require the petrol gauge meter for the 18 gallon tank to your Drawing F.58208 to be suitable for mounting in the panel which we are supplying you. As this means that the instrument will have to be specially made, it will not be possible for us to deliver this by to-morrow (Wednesday) as requested in your letter Ref.Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.2/MJ., of the 14th inst. We would point out that the case of the 3-wire type of instrument does not lend itself to this fitting, and a special case and parts will have to be made up by hand. Every possible effort will be made to get this through at the earliest possible moment; we anticipate, however, that it will take at least 3 or 4 days before the sample will be ready. Mr.Manwaring also informs us that for the 20 gallon tank to your Drawing No.F.82676 you now require the following instruments:- 2 tank attachments as shown on our drawing Ex.Y.6547, one meter to be suitable for mounting in the panel, and one meter with slot illuminated case, rim and dial. These instruments are of the single wire type. 1 Tank attachment to our drawing Ex.Y.6549 1 meter to be suitable for mounting in the panel. This gauge to be of the 3-wire type.
