Attention Mr.B.G.Cruppe

Dear Sirs,

On August 13th last, we got into touch with you regarding a headlamp fault which developed on one or two of your open type lamps.

The fault is due to the rim of the lamp knocking against the shell when subjected to road shock. We definitely cured the trouble by fitting an additional thin rubber band between the rim and shell, thus, in effect, increasing the thickness of your existing rubber seal.

At the time, you asked us to send you a sample lamp,(X/BGC/8/17 Aug.1940). We could not do this then, since the examples which we had cured, had left the works. However, another example has now come to hand, and without interfering with it in any way, we have arranged for it to be dispatched for your attention. In order to reproduce the "thump", which, on the car, is quite audible to the driver, the lamp should be supported on a bracket and struck sharply on the back of the shell with the hand.

We are at the same time, sending to you for repair, a pair of Windtone horns in which the resistance unit in each horn has been burnt out. This has been caused by rough handling on the part of a body maker when repairing the wings on the car on which these horns were fitted, the resistances being pressed back on to the yoke.
