To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G.W.H. X5840. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, France. 22/12/30. Re Chassis 18-G-IV. In view of the request of Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that the mileage of this car should be completed as soon as possible and the car returned to Derby. I shall remain in France for the remainder of the trip. I propose going to Paris for one or two days during this week and returning here to wind up the job. We are to-day endeavouring to try out tests with the Diable Rubbers taken right out of the engine feet. This job we find is taking longer than expected, it is necessary to entirely dismantle the engine feet from the frame to get the top rubbers out. We are however persevering with the job and hope to get some result before the day is out. We shall after these tests are completed carry on with the mileage. The mileage of 10,000 should without unforseen circumstances arise, be finished a week to-day, and the car should be back in Derby by the end of the year. There will be no examination of the car at the finish of the mileage as we expect that you will take the same procedure as that done on 24 EX. I.E. the car thoroughly dismantled at Derby so that a complete examination can be taken. G.W.H. | ||
