Messrs. Lodge Plugs Ltd.,
Rugby.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter A/L/PB of the 2nd, inst., and note that you are sending us a set of CH3 long-reach plugs to test.

With reference to S.1 plugs we confirm our previous report on their behaviour; the tests on this plug have been confined to the 20/25HP car (battery ignition); very careful comparative tests were made between the S.1 plug and the standard (for 20/25 HP chassis) KLG-K.1 type plug, both types of plug being set at the same gap (viz: .030"), bad misfiring occurred at low speeds full throttle when the S.1 plugs were used but was entirely absent on the K.L.G.-K.1 type plugs.

We do not think we should ever be able to use a single point sparking plug as standard we should expect their life to be less than a three point plug (owing to burning away of the points).

The CH.2 plugs will be tried in a Phantom II car as a possible remedy for the misfiring up to 30 M.P.H. which occurs with the C.3 plug.

In connection with this trouble the first test with the last plugs you sent us to test (Type X.288) N.B.G produced no misfiring; before making any definite claims for them however we would prefer to run them further and then carry out some more tests.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED.
