X4384 To EFC. BY/RD2/ML18.11.25. RE 20 H.P. CHASSIS - STARTER MOTOR. We have experienced trouble with the pole stampings on this motor and took the matter up with the makers and the following is a full copy of their report and we would draw your attention to the last half of the report. Would you give us your objections to a thinner stamping, if any, so that we may reply to them. "The cause of your difficulty apparently is, that the stampings in your Stores are somewhat mixed. The tool gave out, and it had to be replaced - the old stock and the new stock are not absolutely identical. The point has been very strenuously taken up in the Works, and we hope that you will not have cause to mention this again. We should like to say our opinion is, you would get a much more effective Pole if you will give your consent to the use of a thinner gauge metal. In these very small Polepiece stampings, the thickness you specify is very heavy. In thinner metal you would get a more solid Pole, and irregularities would be less likely to occur in punching the thinner metal. Is it possible for you to take this point into consideration".
