BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} X.YEE EFC EFC 1000 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG12.4.20. X.YEE TESTS ON HIGH AND LOW COMPRESSION CHASSIS. With reference to your BJ1/S9.4.20., we are making preparations to take two Experimental Cars to Brooklands Track. One car will be fitted with an open-touring body and the other with a Pullman Limousine Body. The tests we intend to carry out at Brooklands are as follows:- 1. Find difference in speed and acceleration on each car when fitted with high and low compression pistons. 2. Find difference in speed and acceleration on each car when fitted with present standard axle and again when fitted with the lower geared axle 3.47 ratio which we are contemplating making standard on some cars. 3. Comparison with cast iron and aluminium pistons for speed and acceleration. We will also at the same time test the suggestion you make as regards with and without windscreen. The advantage of taking two cars to Brooklands is firstly, that we can confirm the results obtained with the high and low compression and the standard and low-geared axles and another thing it is the most convenient way of transporting to Brooklands the necessary parts to carry out the test. We have no pre-war type car which we could test. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
