Dear Mr. Leslie, Many thanks for your letter of the 3rd November. The car arrived safely and satisfactorily on Saturday morning. Your chart of the steering is interesting; I should be inclined to think, however, that if the castor angle was altered this would affect the chart somewhat. We know, at the moment, that we have a little too much castor angle, although apart from the slight heaviness of pulling the car round corners, it behaves very well from a steering point of view. I quite agree with you that the riding of the car is not all that it might be, and have purposely left this until the new dash-controlled shock absorbers are available, which should be some time this week. There is, as you say, a certain amount of harshness-which appears to be worse as the weather gets colder. No doubt we can overcome this when we get the new shock absorbers. Regarding the shock absorbers: 1. Should you require them in aluminium, castings would have to be made as gravity castings for which we have patterns but no dies available at the moment, for the dash-control. cont'd... | ||
