-3- (8) Spare wheel carrier bracket cracked twice after 4 hrs. and 28 hrs. This is receiving design attention with a view to simplification as well as increasing the strength. The new yokes are not yet ready but we ought to have them early next week. They will then be fitted on the present bumper chassis in addition to the 8 initial deflection springs, and will in due course be given a 50 hrs. test. During the run the large tube on the extreme front end of the frame was dispensed with and a bumper was fitted in its stead. This alteration proved satisfactory. One of the lower lever silentbloc bolts had become loose during the test and as a result, had worn rather badly. To prevent this in future two split pin holes will be drilled in this bolt, thus giving twice as many locking positions for the nut. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK. | ||
