The Associated Equipment Co. Ltd.,
Southall,
Middlesex.

For the attention of Mr.G.J.Rackham.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 31st. ult., and we are afraid we shall have to disappoint you with the delivery of bearings. The batch of castings we hoped to be able to despatch last week-end proved faulty on final machining and we have had to recast again. We have tried to bring in an existing die to produce your bearings but it does not appear to be suitable for the job.

We have, however, had a pattern made and have now cast again to-day, and we shall make every effort to let you have the bearings this week.

With regard to clearance of the bearings the figure you quote namely, 1.3 thous. per inch is quite correct and should be quite satisfactory.

We regret that you have had to experience this delay but we are making every effort to let you have the bearings as early as possible.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
