-2- off with the tools at our disposal. We have also reduced the flange as per suggestions sent out, which we hope will give us better results for keeping water out. We shall not get the 3.S. car running before the end of this week at the earliest. Our examination is about finished, the engine has been completely dismantled. We have investigated to find a reason for the oil loss from the rear of the engine, and we hoped we have solved it. We will tell you later whether this is so or not. Re the men I am keeping here, I propose that Brazier, Pepper and Crofts are good men for investigation work. Hill and Reynolds will be useful for mileage work. Will you please let me know, I have requested this once before, whether Capt. Hallam requires Hill or Crofts back, also will you please ask Mr. Maddocks whether I can retain Pepper, he is a very useful chap and a good worker. Naturally as he is one of Mr. Maddocks's head testers, I suppose he will be wanting him back. This information is wanted to settle the minds of the men. Naturally they want to know what they are doing definitely and approximately how long they are likely to be here. In view of the fact that 19-HX will be here shortly, I should say that the job will be 2 to 3 months, please let us know. I shall take the opportunity to have a few days in Derby when the opportunity presents itself, but this will not be until I have delivered the 3.S. to Mr. Royce. I wish to see that job cleared up and all O.K. first. G.W.H. [Handwritten Notes] RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} By/SS{S. Smith} By/SS{S. Smith} ACC | ||
