SENIOR RANGE.

Gearboxes. - It is now four months since the last conference when it was agreed to complete the seven gearboxes partly machined. Progress has been slow. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has made some suggestions as to how HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} can get the gears ground. It was agreed that, when these boxes had been proved satisfactory, more would have to be made if the experimental cars were to run up to date parts.

Brakes. - Servo groans were discussed. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} mentioned that he had them on the Trials car he was running. It is agreed that a permanent cure has not yet been found for this trouble.

Rear Axle. - The failure on JO.C.VII was discussed. It was agreed that no decision could be taken until the results of the second axle being run was obtained. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} pointed out that, by altering the final drive ratio, about a 12% improvement in tooth strength could be obtained.

Steerings. - Trouble due to additional weight of the 8-cylinder engine compared with the six. If made in aluminium, the 8-cylinder engine would weigh no more than the six and the trouble should disappear.

Manufacture of Pieces for Test. - In addition to the gearboxes, it was agreed that the 8-cylinder aluminium engine should be completed and subsequently other sizes of the rationalised 6-cylinder range that have not yet been produced. Complete instructions for the aluminium 8 will be sent to HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} by 30.6.41.

MYTH.

Parts of the frame, body and engine were inspected.
