Referring to the above scheme, would you kindly note that Mr. Royce considers that we may now proceed to make the various pieces which need no modification, with the excep- tion of the following small points:- (1) All fibre washers should be properly spigotted. The fibre washers on the needle bearing and Bevel stick plug require attention in respect to this point, which attention should consist in removing the undercuts on the male thread. (2) The finger screw for operating the valve is pro- vided with a disc at the lower end so as to create friction and prevent over-tightening. The middle portion of the surface of this disc should be recessed away to ensure bedding around the edge for the purpose of getting the full friction clutch effect. (3) A point that has not been previously illustrated is that the inner bearing of the bevel pinion shaft on the petrol level indicator should be secured by screws passing through slots in the main tubular body of the instrument. The bear- ing is thus adjustable - PAINT SPRING WASHER TO PREVENT RUSTING (4) The screws used for securing the cock forming the outer bearing for the needle shaft on the petrol level indicator, and the screws for Contd. | ||
