Lucas on Wednesday the 28th inst. to discuss with Mr. Neil, their Lamp Designer, several items in connection with headlamps. The following points were noted as a result of our discussion :- (1) 60 Watt Lamp Bulbs in Bentley Headlamps. Mr. Neil confirmed our view, based on actual experimental results, that the life of 60 watt lamp bulbs is not appreciably affected when fitted to the Bentley lamp as compared with the P.100. We also discovered that if 60 watt bulbs are fitted to the Bentley lamp the illumination is practically as good as the P.100, the difference not being noticeable in their dark room. Customers should be carefully advised of this fact as the general impression is that P.100 lamps, because they are bigger and more imposing, give more light. (2) Arrangement of Dimming in P.100 Headlamps. We suggested to them that, instead of double vertical dipping reflectors on the P.100 lamps, a better arrangement would be for the offside lamp only to dip vertically and the nearside to dip to the left. This would be better for cornering and for fog. Mr. Neil stated they would be pleased to do this for us if we required it and we should be glad to have opinions with regard to this scheme (Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} has already signified his approval). | ||
