To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 4766 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RmL/LG18.1.26. COOLING UNDER PRESSURE. In addition to running a car with evaporative cooling, we wish to fit up a Phantom to run under pressure cooling. To do this it is necessary to remove the present over-flow pipes and substitute in their place a single pipe which is run from the radiator cap to the present oil relief valve which could be sweated to the back plate of the top radiator tank. Two pipes will then be led down from this relief valve and finish up in the position of the normal over-flow pipes. Attached is a rough sketch of what we consider would be a desirable position for the relief valve. If considered necessary, to make a rigid job, studs carrying the relief valve which are shewn screwed into the small carrying plate, could be carried right through the radiator top tank back plate and nuts put on to pull the whole together. In the immediate future, we will give you details of the spring required to produce the necessary pressure. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
