The Hoyt Metal Company of Gt. Britain Ltd.,
Deodar Road,
Putney,
LONDON. S.W.15.

Dear Sir,

We shall be glad if you will give us your views on two Babbitt materials which we understand are being used successfully in the States.

The first of these is a tin base material having:-

89% tin
3.7% copper
7.3% antimony, and less than
2% lead.

The second material is a lead base having:-

85% lead
9% antimony
6% tin.

We shall be glad to know if you have any experience of the behaviour of these two materials, or whether you have made up samples for anyone to test.

Will you also let us know whether you are in a position to metal some of our own shells with either, or both of these materials, so that we can run them on a test bed engine.

Yours faithfully,

For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
