As you are no doubt aware, you have had on test since July & Oct/ respectively Thermostats EB.346 manufactured by The Packless Gland Company. The price quoted by Packless Gland Co. is in the range of 12/- each, plus necessary tools, and the price we are at present paying to S.Smith & Sons for a similar thermostat are:- 25/- each for small quantities. 23/6d each for a batch of 135. This price the makers are prepared to reduce to 19/9d each, provided we undertake to standardise it for our production during 1934. You will therefore see that the standardising of the Packless Gland Co's thermostat would mean a considerable saving. Will you please let us have your report, if possible within the next two or three days, as it is essential an order is placed if we are to keep continuity of Works output. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
