Petrol Tanks in Service.
-----------------------

With reference to your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/WH.11.7.39.

From the enquiries I have made at N. and K.{Mr Kilner} the servicing of petrol tanks has been very small. There has not been any requests for a larger tank on Bentley, 25/30 HP. and Wraith. N. carry no stocks of tanks, and K.{Mr Kilner} only two, which are used as spares to replace damaged tanks temporarily.

With regard to tank units, the 25/30 HP. and Wraith are not interchangeable, owing to the diameter of the top flange and body being larger on the 25/30 HP. (both are 18 gall). therefore the Stores have to keep stock of both units.

With regard to Gauges, the 25/30 HP. and Wraith are practically identical in size, but there is a question of matching up the instruments, therefore two stocks of 18 gall. gauges have to be kept.

It was for this reason, I queried the new production to try and keep down various types of units.
