86153 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/MA. 14th June, 1935. Messrs.E.K.Cole, Ltd., Ekco Works, SOUTHEND-ON-SEA. For the attention of Mr.R.I.Cowley. Dear Sir, Replying to your letter of the 11th instant we regret that it will not be possible for you to try out the radio on the experimental car as owing to the experimental nature of this car we cannot, at the moment, allow the car away from the Works. At some future date, however, we will arrange for you to test out the equipment. With regard to the Ekco sets for Olympia upon further raising this question with our Administration they point out that as they have not received any demand for radio sets lately they do not think it policy to fit up any of the cars on our Show Stands this year with radio sets. Whether any of the coachbuilders do this will be a matter of their concern and yours. We feel that the question of the success of car radio largely depends on the publicity efforts of yourselves and other interested concerns, because we cannot undertake to go further in the question of experimental work if the buyers of our cars do not show any desire for radio. It is up to you therefore to create this demand accordingly by convincing the motoring public of the advantages of car radio. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
