-10- Battery & Fittings, LGP. D.R4401. D.R4402. Battery. With the exception of the few days when the dynamo was not charging, the battery was satisfactory. The lighting and starting were maintained without showing any distress upon the battery. No trouble was experienced with the anchorage or fittings of the battery. Body Work. The front doors rattled. They had dropped and required re-setting. The s.c. front ventilating window rattled without being firmly closed, the two windows rattled when opened. The scuttle creaked, the sunshine roof was draughty and not weather-proof, the two front wings cracked and had to be patched up on several occasions, the front apron cracked and was tearing away at the two inner corners near the radiator. The stone guards under the front wings were continually working loose, particularly under the wells. The attachment of the front wings to the running boards broke away, the right angled lip breaking. The rear wings continually became loose under the arch of the body. The wood screws fell out, larger screws were fitted and also fell out. The extension of the rear wing below the running board was cut to pieces by stones. The rear tool or baggage panel would not close without illtreatment. The squab of the rear seats chattered to such an extent that the brass fasteners were worn completely through. The runners for the front seats worked loose and the operation of adjusting the seats was difficult owing to jamming. The design of two separate runners for each seat having to be lined up and screwed down to the floor boards is expensive and unsatisfactory. A steel pressing incorporating the two runners could be made and firmly attached to the floorboards by bolts, or it could form part of the floorboards. Windscreen Wiper Motor - Klaxon Type. The failure of the motor due to non-lubrication of the reduction gears has been taken up with the makers who have realised the importance of lubricating the gears. | ||
