Describe how accident happened and give sketch.
The accident was caused by a Standard being unable to de-accelerate as quickly as the vehicle in front of it. The driver of the Standard said that he was unlucky in swerving in the wrong direction when he found that he could not pull up.
56 BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} was on the correct side of the road throughout. The movement of the Standard (attempting to draw alongside the vehicle in front of it) was so rapid that the noise of the impact was my first warning of trouble, although I was watching the on coming column of traffic. There was no time to attempt to change the direction of or retard 56 BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}
As the position and damage done to the Standard proved that where 56 BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} was on the correct side of the road, I phoned the police so that full particulars could be taken concerning the position of the Standard.

Date of report 19. 1. 38
Driver's Signature I. A.{Mr Adams} Sheddie
