EFC. from Oy. X. 2918 9.6.17. LIST OF MAGNETO EXPERIMENTS ROUGHLY IN ORDER OF URGENCY (1) R.R. Contact Breaker 6000 Revs. Balanced or Overbalanced Duralumin rocker. Tested for wear with hardest possible compressed fibre rubbing block, A cam, and wick lubrication. Spring .021" thick set to 1 1/4 lbs. on platinum. R.{Sir Henry Royce} (2) R.R. Contact Breaker Revs. Balanced steel rocker, tested for wear with - Hardest possible compressed fibre. A cam. Wick Lubrication. Spring .021" set at 1 1/4 lbs. (3) & (4) Similar tests to the above, unlubricated. (5) Test of Small Dixie at 6000 revs. with rotary gap contrived on an independent constant speed motor (Possible a synchronised motor). First a test of electrical phenomena, spark vision examination of cpntact breaker &c. Then a duration test for wear, heating, &c, for say 12 hours continuous, diameter of cam over fibres &c. having been carefully measured up beforehand, also gap of platinums, the two spring loads &c. (6) Similar test of Z.A.2 with its own contact breaker, That is first electrical test, then mechanical test. (7) Similar test of Z.A. 2 with R.R, contact breaker, A cam, lubricated (if this can be contrived on Contd. | ||
