Further to our memo Ve/HGF.1/CE.4.11.40, as we have not yet received the tools which we requested from the Admiralty, we should be glad if you would go ahead with the box as if it were intended for Rolls-Royce spanners. You can make provision for extending the slots on the assumption that the Navy spanners may be slightly longer than our own. In any case, as pointed out to you, it would be advisable not to crowd the gear in the box in case the Navy may want to carry some additional tools.

We would add that this box is urgently needed, as we are sending away improvised boxes which will need to be replaced when the design is finalised and you will appreciate that the more guns that go away, the more difficult it is going to be to trace them.
