W/K PK from Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}/SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} c. GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} CHASSIS NO. B.46.HK{Col. T. Harker - Sales} John E.Cooper Esq. PK/6.7.39 In view of the fact that the remark about Lanoline being inferior to Vaseline was merely an expression of opinion by one of Lucas's service men, and did not, therefore, represent any official view of the firm, it is not proposed to take the matter up direct with Lucas, who would undoubtedly support our view that Lanoline has certain points of superiority over Vaseline. Obviously the corrosion was not due to the use of Lanoline, but probably to a condition of the battery, i.e., excessive gassing or leakage of acid past the terminal posts.
