SECRET. 1029 1046 To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. File Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}11/JH.S.8.3.40. Handbrake Linkages. L.H. Senior Range. Attached herewith are 2 prints of PL.117 (2 sheets) shewing the hand brake linkages for the left hand drive cars of the Senior Range. We have set out the mechanism for the L.H. Corniche or Comet, as this offers the greatest difficulty, because the longitudinal distance between the hand brake lever and the rear brakes intermediate shaft is at its minimum. On the L.H. Silver Phantom the hand brake lever moves forward 9.000 ins. as also does the petrol pump and the battery. The bell cranks and intermediate shaft remain unchanged. We have shewn in the exhaust silencers for a dual system, for cars having a dash to rear axle dimension of both 89.500 as Corniche 80 and Comet and 98.500 as on Silver Phantom. It will be seen that we have catered for L.H. drive on all 8 cyl. and 6 cyl. models having twin exhaust systems and we see no reason for any difficulty with cars having a single system.
