Front Suspension - Silver Wraith 80.

We have already issued schemes for the front pan and gusset for the above, and now we send herewith PD.229 (Sheets 1 and 2) shewing the modifications to the suspension and steering.

It is understood that this frame and suspension will not be used until Silver Wraith 80, but it may then be introduced on B.3. and B.50. if desired, even though the 6 cylinder engine is maintained, if it is decided to supply such models with alternative capacities of 4 1/4 litre and 5.5 litres.

A revised centre steering lever is called for and a corresponding lever on the wheel will be the subject of another scheme.

The torque arm is unchanged from PD.201. The forward lower triangle lever is revised to cater for the larger diameter of road spring, particulars of which will follow.

On PD.229 - sheet 1. will shew that the steering box, when in the B.3. and B.50 position, fouls the mechanically driven petrol pump on the engine. If such a pump has to be used it will entail moving the steering column box forward quite a lot.

On the first car we propose not to alter the steering, but to delete the mechanical petrol pump, and an electric pump will be used as on B.3. and B.50.
