To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. Copies to R. {Sir Henry Royce} BN. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} O. {Mr Oldham} Handwritten: X4299 (crossed out), X3545, X4299 BJ20/H7.7.21. 14 and 15-TOOTH AXLES. I attach report PN {Mr Northey} 1/DN2.7.21 concerning the above. Will you kindly let me know: 1. How soon it will be possible for all chassis to which closed bodies are to be fitted to have 14-tooth axles? It seems very desirable that this should be arranged as soon as possible. 2. Have any comparative tests been made of petrol consumption of a closed car fitted with 14 and 15-tooth axles? If not, will you please let me know how soon such a test could be made? 3. How soon can you arrange for a 14-tooth axle to be fitted to our demonstrating landaulet car in London? B.J.
