Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG27.7.23. 20 HP. PRODUCTION CHASSIS. 10,000 MILES TEST. X4594 X4241 This car was stopped on the road on two occasions between 500 and 600 miles running due to the air valve sticking. We consider that this would be a serious fault to occur in customers hands because it is difficult to diagnose the trouble. We suggest the sticking is due to unnecessarily too fine clearances. This was not a case in which the air valve sticks when screwed tightly in the carburetter body. Another obvious fault with this car is the fitting of the bonnet. It is impossible to undo the bonnet clips unless the bonnet is hammered down at the same time. We should think that the customer would have cause for complaint with regard to this.
