FREEWHEEL CARS. VS{J. Vickers}23 / V4474

CWB. very kindly brought a Talbot car, with DeLavaud scheme of freewheel back axle, to WW., and we (including DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}) spent much of Sunday with it, and arrived at the following conclusions:-

All agree that we do not like cars with freewheels, but that we ought to continue to get one fitted to our 20HP. to confirm the decision when on a car we know, and to get the opinion of others.

While free-wheeling one can change to any gear by simply waiting for the engine and gear to slow down, but it was thought that it would not suit our requirements, or fill our needs.

Also, its extra quality of holding the road must be limited.
