④ Rolls Royce
Since the R.R. car business is the most outstanding motorcar "goodwill" in the world, I assume that R.R. will continue to make motorcars. And that sooner or later they will build the whole car under R.R. name and supervision.
R.R. will continue to be "the best", not just in advertising parlance, but as a concrete fact of design and manufacture.
Doing this, they will continue to have a steady and profitable market, even under conditions when more "proletarian" vehicles may have to curtail their output.
I think R.R. cars could be as outstanding in any field as they have been in the field of big motorcars. For example they R.R. could make a very fine job, and a profitable one, of a 14 h.p. 6 cylinder car which would be "first quality" in every sense of science, comfort, appointments, etc.
Such smaller cars cannot be merely scaled-down models of larger ones. "Scale effects" begin to come in, for instance the static-deflection of the suspension springs must be reduced in proportion to the reduced dimensions of the car,
