Hoob P.H.Rose. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}16/JH.14.2.39. 8.B.V. Bentley. Thank you for your letters and reports up to 12.2.39. including report on Avon tyres. We note your remarks re servo travel. Six Dunlop 4 ply 6.50 x 16 tyres were sent to Paris for us last year. We do not think that these have all been used, and those you cannot account for are probably still at Paris. You should get hold of these at a suitable opportunity for use as required. We want all worn out Dunlop 4 ply tyres back at Derby. We are sending out two wheels and Avon tyres, balanced and marked O.S.F. and N.S.F. Please run these and where they have worn badly eccentric, return the tyres and wheels complete and undisturbed to us. We are awaiting the results of your oil loss from gearbox measurements since drilling the four holes. (we are sorry we did not mention the existing hole. Our tests showed that air entered by this hole instead of oil draining out and that the air and oil together were drawn out at the front end of the spiggot). Should oil leaks still occur, please fit the new oil seal sent out, after soaking in oil for 24 hours, but should the leaks be cured, leave the existing seal in (note if it has to be removed you will probably have to knock it about to get it out. The new clutch plate can be fitted as and when you think fit. The new servo disc should only be fitted if you think the existing is likely to come adrift. If only | ||
