Gentlemen:

Many thanks for your letter of August 26 which apparently crossed mine of August 31 along the way somewhere. We were certainly glad to hear from you, and to know that the test was starting out so well.

I took your letter up to the Engineering Department and the Development Department so that the men who worked out these first belts for you might see how things are coming along. They were very much pleased with your first report, and are now looking forward eagerly to the comparative figures of all the belts that you mentioned you would send us as soon as you have them available.

Incidentally, you will probably be interested to know that the Massey Harris Belt I wrote you about on August 31 ran 387 hours before we finally took it off the test. The belt wasn't finished then either as it had several hours more wear in it, but we needed that particular piece of testing equipment.

This is the kind of a belt we should like to develop for you, Mr. Steadman. We may not be able to make as remarkable an improvement as that but it is surprising what these development engineers of ours can do when they are as interested in a problem as they are in yours.

Thanks again for your friendly letter. I shall be looking forward to hearing from you as soon as you have results from the test.

Cordially yours,

C. A.{Mr Adams} Winser
