RE. MOUNTING OF BODIES X. 8380
ON SUBFRAMES. X. 9380

We have sent you complete designs of underframe, cross member and supports, for EAC.11 chassis. There still remains to be sent to you the scuttle armature and isolation scheme which we hope to do in a few days.

In view of the possibility that the first of the new cars will be an EAC.111. with an underframe-sheu EAC.11 engine, namely, EAC Vl.{V. Lewis / Mr Valentine}, we think for-this-ca that an under-frame should be got out suitable for this car. Since the main frame of EAC.111. is 1" narrow, the underframe can be narrowed to that extent. This is the only modification we propose. The supports should be kept in the same place as EAC.11. as far as possible. We believe there is nothing in the way. The EAC.11. step irons would be used, the dash-board would be widened to 36" and the latest design of side lever mechanism is essential. This latter we have yet to send you, but both this, and the isolation scheme will be in your hands at the earliest possible moment.

If therefore you can have ready designs for an underframe on both EAC.11. and Vl.{V. Lewis / Mr Valentine}, we shall ensure that there is no delay in getting the schemes tested.

We are pleased to hear that you anticipate no difficulty with the Daimler Co., and that their patent is a thin one, only applying really to the details of construct-ion and suspension, none of which we think are desirable, or do we want.
