REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS.

The Production of the Rear Shock Absorbers in the Works is such now that they are ready to fit them to Cars. The Shock Absorbers being made have all latest improvements. A set of these shock absorbers have run for 90 hours on the bump rig without failure. Three sets are running on Experimental Cars. On 49-GB Car they have completed 7,000 miles - on another car they have completed 2000 miles. There are some further improvements to be tested in connection with the rear shock absorbers. They have been made because of the fact that on the extreme bump there is a risk of the rear shock absorber lever fouling the brake bracket on the axle. This can only happen under most extreme conditions and it is not considered that the alterations are vital but should be looked upon as further improvements. The only questionable point about the shock absorber is the slight noise which comes from it. This varies according to the condition of the friction surfaces but we do not consider it is objectionable. The London Trials Cars (both open and closed) have for several months been fitted with these shock absorbers and there has been no definite complaint as regards noise.
