x4698 Exptl. Dept. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Les.15/KW. 10th May, 1935. Mons. G. {Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} de Ram, 125, Avenue de la {L. A. Archer} Reine, Boulogne-sur-Seine, Paris, France. Dear M. {Mr Moon / Mr Moore} de Ram, We have all been very interested in your set of shock absorber parts, which you kindly let me bring back to England at the end of last year. I am sorry that there has been such a delay, but we have had to give our attention to other parts of the car. The general criticism of your damper is that wear would be expected to take place between the splines transmitting the torque and the friction plates. I remember you assured me that you had experienced no serious trouble from this feature. The most satisfactory method to ascertain the comparative life of your damper against ours, is for us to give one of your shock absorbers an endurance test. We have an apparatus for testing any part of a chassis under most severe conditions. We shall be despatching the parts of your damper immediately, and hope that you will be able to let us have a single complete damper for an endurance test. We were very impressed with the road holding of a 3,300 c.c. Bugatti now belonging to A.H.L.Eccles, which recently raced at Donington Park, near here. This car is fitted with de Ram shock absorbers. When are Bugattis going to produce a new engine ? | ||
