DESIGN WORK - RATIONALISED PROGRAMME.

Following up DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/G.22.4.39. attached is a list of the outstanding work on the Rationalised programme at this date, and it will be seen that we have cleared off a considerable amount, but there is still a good deal to be done.

We have started on the L.H. 8 Cyl. Chassis. In addition to the work enumerated here, there are a number of items of development applicable to any chassis that necessarily occupy someone, and prevent work on this programme being carried out uninterruptedly. Examples are the new gearbox, the new chassis lubrication system, pedal and clutch operation, improvement, and small development items brought in from time to time, such as those on the B.V. gear-box.

The Junior Rationalised programme is also in progress to some extent, and the Commercial Engine Programme. Wraith III and Phantom III are referred to on the list, and some of the points mentioned might perhaps be scrapped.
