Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. For the attention of Mr West. Dear Sir, With reference to the wireless shielding coils we sent you recently, we would draw your attention to the following fact. You observed that the spring which is secured at one end of the coil and fixed to the ring and lug which is fitted under the sparking plug, is intended to earth the braiding of the H.T. cable. You probably agree that the fitting of this spring might, all according to the construction of the engine, present difficulties. Knowing that the Air Ministrys' requirements ask for earthing of the braiding at distances of not more than 12", it occurred to us that the spring could be dispensed with. We have therefore approached our Works to that effect and they agree with our suggestion. If you carry out any tests it would be very interesting to find out if the fitting of the spring does actually make a difference, if not, it obviously can be dispensed with. We should greatly appreciate having your view on this matter and also hearing what results have been obtained with these coils. In the meantime, we remain, dear Sir, Yours faithfully, for SCINTILLA LIMITED. [Signature] WST NR. | ||
